I know that Ronounours is mainly interested to the command line (and the engine/libraries to support it ) while this would be useful only for the plugin (and for a more generic but yet to be GMIC_wrapper...) but would give such a huge jump in power and usability

just something allowing to graphically chain filters to assemble new one there are many GPL examples around maybe some may be easily adapted

If you are talking about a node editor that could link various filters and adjustment widgets to create more complete filters, then I would be definitely in favor of such a thing too, but that may be a little heavy to code. I believe gegl will eventually allow such an interface should they choose to implement it and I am 100% for it since this would be superior to layers. It would really allow for self documented (hate the term lossless) edits as well. :)

Coral ! :geek
http://code.google.com/p/coral-repo/ , see in action here https://vimeo.com/channels/coralapp

Coral works with Maya and was proposed its integration in Blender (see http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthr ... ode-editor ), maybe could even be integrated in gmic ...(just to avoid the risk to reinvent the wheel)

And speaking of Blender, Blender already allow nodal editing (i.e. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:S ... NodalLogic )

---

And of course for the gimp plugin the Mathmap Composer

Yes but it is already done !...
... that is why i remarked that is already implemented in many FOSS programs , may even be something ready to be quickly adapted to gmic

From the only example i have seen that proposed for gimp risks to be a delusive implementation
(but will be idiotical judge only on the base of a single ,poor mock up that i have seen, it is possible that to be cheap and cheesy was the mock up and not the future real thing )

You too know better and already working examples , I am trying now to remember the names of a graphic tool you make me know, both with a nice and clean node composer... oh well i hope you get a better memory for sure it was open source

Neotextureedit is the only open source program I know that uses nodes PC.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/neotextureedit/

I also use (mainly for art but it can be used for so much more) Postworkshop Pro which has an extremely cool node interface should you want to use that (and I do; lol) but has layers as well. Don't have Filterforge, but I believe it also has an impressive node editor interface. Node editing is the future no doubt. :)

Yes Neotextureedit !

About Postworkshop Pro and FilterForge , yes both have a extremely cool node interface
(The opposite of what i saw proposed for gimp... :gaah )

but is no so strictly needed something so polished, so cured also for its aesthetic
