Nice scoop, I had Xara years ago it was ahead of it's time then.

It's still one of the best, I've used it for years but it's never been free.

That's 5, the current version is 8. I have 7.

Though I have always been using the excellent Inkscape without problems, over these years I have never stopped being curious about Xara Xtreme and its functionalities, and now finally I have the chance to experiment with it.

Xara is the best as far as I'm concerned, and yes, you can get it in linux. When I was using mint I had it. For some reason it's free in linux. Xara will do some things xara won't inkscape won't do, Named colors is an excellent example and it's 3d features can't be beat.

thanks for the link! I am stashing this with my free photoshop on the PC, and then I hope that one day I will find the time to learn how to use both! I think learning to use PS and Xara would enhance my use of Gimp projects.

I just went from 7 to MX2013 last night. I've tried Illustrator and Corel Draw and I still prefer Magix/Xara.

Boo, I could not seem to download it properly. Twice I tried to download, and it looked like it was downloading right with the progress bar, but then when I went back to find it, nothing was there. I searched xara in search and all it found was 18 copies of the agreement, but no button to accept. This was on a pc using windoze 7. Any clue as to what was up? I would like to have this for free.

I have windows 7 and download from them all the time. In very technical terms, you must have something busted. I just downloaded MX 2013 last night.
You should do some research on their office sometime. I don't remember the precise facts but they work out of this giant ancient mansion. It's kind of neat.

I have MX also and i love it. I didn't get the web version though just the photo and design version.
