Just a little side note regarding the installation of zipped plug-ins that have their own (.dll) library files (like G'MIC, for instance). Great care needs to be taken where those files are extracted to, because for one, a plug-ins folder with multiple .dll files can cause a host of problems, not only with the plug-in itself, but other plug-ins as well.
In the case of G'MIC and other plug-ins like it (those that have accompanying .dll files) I always recommend to GIMPers to extract them to their own folders (anywhere they want to on their Windows system) and then point GIMP's plug-ins folder preferences to it. It will save a ton of headaches right out of the gate. And it's the best way to install that particular type of plug-in. Throwing all your plug-ins into either the application (Program files) or user (.gimp-2.6) plug-ins folders just because its a plug-in, isn't always the best course of action.
Linux, on the other hand, works differently.
I felt this was important enough to mention, because I keep seeing differences in the way instructions are passed to new users. Although, for most, a particular set-up/install works, doesn't necessarily mean its the best route to go.
