Thank you, PC, Odinbc, O and Molly!

@molly - inner bevel? maybe, but I have not used a script for that. I'm like Esper now, trying to recreate layer FX manually.
I believe it's called pressed letter effect.
Triplicated text and the line and filled them with different tones of grey color, then moved them around. In one case had to shrink darkest
text layer. The only plugin ever used is Gaussian blur.
If you look at my xcf layers you can see all the mess, body of the pill is semi-transparent - deleted the right layer and had to find a workaround to
fill the transparent areas and a lot of other don't-do stuff. Also I deleted all masks (always use them) and the paths were created at the last moment,
not at the beginning as it should be done. Attached XCF is an example of how you should NOT work in GIMP, lol.

Bah, that's how I do everything in gimp. It always starts with 'hey what if I...'. Before I know it, I'm in trouble lol.

Is Layer FX the same as layer effects? If so, I already have that. I wouldn't be without it. Yes, I did see your xcf. It was quite confusing to me but it worked well for you so that is all that matters. First aspirin I have ever seen that shape.

it looks very realistic, but what i is even more awesome is the way you did the pill

you did the 3D effect just by offsetting layers ?
also some interesting results with the semi transparent blurred layer...i have no idea how you did that

EDIT: errrr, yeah ninja'd sort of..... thats what happens when you open a thread hang on the phone for hours and then write a reply without checking if there were any other replies in the meantime

Yeah, almost forgot to mention.
Visible image in xcf and png version does not contain white or black colors - all shades of grey, although it may seems not true!
Did it intensionally since it's my fav color.

And this is not a tutorial thing.

@ek22 - i created a lot of layers and was too lazy to name it (my way!) but on couple of occasions deleted the wrong layers
and by the time I knew it it was too late, lol. Maybe it's just me but it seems like the body has some texture to it, but I have not applied any script, so it's byproduct effect

@molly - yeah, Layerfx - a Python version of layer effects.I had an aspirin of this shape, not sure what country origin it was, but press text was impressive (the price too) :hehe
Hope it doesn't look like one of those Orbit products...no, i just looked it up, it has more square shape and a gloss.

TY, Esper! I messed up a lot as was said in my previous comment. But yes, I just moved layers around. Semitransparent
layer happened after I applied Gradient tool to the wrong layer, and noticed that later on, lol. I'm not sure I can't recreate my own picture again. Sad, but true. :(

Created rectangular selection with rounded corners set to 70 (?). For creating complex color blending on the pill used substracted selections
and god knows how many layers. Since i wasn't planning to post it here didn't really care about saving those selections as paths.
Only when I saw the final results decided maybe it was worth posting here.

Nice looking pill, I'm with you on trying to do things manually if possible.

I like it both ways. I like to know how to do it from scratch, but I also like to use the scripts and plugins...and when you know how to do it yourself, you can understand how to use the variables better.

:tyspin Erisian!

I'm about ready to come up with another realistic image. Just need to add a few Les coups de grâce to it.
