Hello! I am just starting to learn GIMP, and I struggle with getting rid of crawling lines (I don't know how to describe it better) after I selected a piece of one image and want to put it on another with the use of layers. Anybody knows? Thank you!

I'm not sure what you mean by crawling lines, but if you're referring to the 'marching ants' whenever you use selection tools, you can change the appearance in Edit>Preferences>Image Windows and set the speed to 2000-2500 ms. The selection line (so called marching ants) will now be motionless and change only every 2-2.5 seconds. It is pointless though to completely get rid of them, since when you make a selection you have to be able to see what you'd selected. Nevertheless, you can do it in Menu bar>View and uncheck Show Selection or just hit Ctrl+T.
