Since I've been griping about GIMP crashing on this large image I've been working on, I thought it's just right I share the finished project here.

This is a picture of my mage in the game World of Warcraft. I've spent the last couple of years making him as awesome as he can be. He's a frost mage, that's why everything here is so blue. He froze it.

This took about a week in GIMP. I don't own a tablet, so all the drawing happened with my mouse. I used a shot of Calvin Klein model Travis Fimmel as my reference, since I suck with anatomy if I'm not looking at a pic.

I don't mind critique, but please keep in mind, I don't generally paint, and this is totally uncharted waters for me to venture in.

The original size 3700 x 4000 px is on my DA, here.

Well I don't use gimp for painting so will leave that side to the more experienced gimp users.

The image looks good to me, the colours seem fairly balanced and the shadow to highlight the body shape works well. Nice job.

Very nice job on the body and skin tones. You also did a very good job of the muscles and pecs. Kudos ek22

OK, I hunted and hunted for something I can critique...this is all I can come up with...the goatee is a bit too sharp and crisp on the edges and doesn't look as natural as it could, and not too sure about the cigarette angle. I'm not thrilled with the background as it seems to take away from that awesome picture. The frost guy is amazing, he is very well done and it's hard to imagine that you did this with just a mouse.

Thanks 2-ton. I've been actually thinking that same thing about the beard. I might have to go back in and mess with it some more. I've been having a bit of a hard time with getting any of the hair to look like it's not just a plastic cap. I got a lot to learn still.

Another thing I've omitted here is he's supposed to have some scars, but I don't have any inkling how I would even begin to start painting those to not look derp, so for now, he get's to have smooth skin.

You want to have a browse of Da because I've seen some scar tutorials over there.

They do? The only scar tuts I found were youtube ones and more for photos than drawings. I'm not sure that was what I wanted anyways. I'll have a look and see if DA has wisdom for me.

Very well painted. The colours are good and the muscles are well done and natural looking.
