found this great picture of a fighter aircraft, saved it and forgot about it
had a look in my folder yesterday and started to render the plane
then i made it into this - no big plan, just playing around

The ship looks a little lost in my opinion but I really like that font, what's the name?

not sure what you really mean, any suggestions how to fix the lostness ?

I sort of agree, it's hard to distinguish the actual edges in parts of the plane...I like the composition, though...not really sure how you can make the plane stand out better, especially since you do seem to like things darker than I do (mostly because I don't have the greatest eyesight anymore).

hm, i especially like the structure on the belly of the plane and i think its looks better when its all dirty and dark

I didn't realize that was the underbelly...thought it was the top part...but when I get really close and adjust my glasses, I can see the detail. I have a rather small screen, 13", so I gravitate towards lighter and easier to see objects. There still might be a way to make the highlights a bit lighter, without making the whole render lighter.

It is good Esper. You have done a great job with the text behind it. Can you do one for us so we can see the workings of the underbelly?

The only thing I would change is the direction of shadow from the fighter jet which does not comply with the source of light (judging on lighting/shadow pattern on parts of the fuselage).

the shadow must go upwards, right ?

The edges are a bit too black on the ship to compare with the BG and it makes it look lost.

Esper I like the effect.

nice thing you did with the aircraft, it looks like a very experienced ship compared to the original- and nice text effect too! but i agree with moko that the ship seems to get a little lost. if you're not going for realism anyway, maybe you could add a little glow instead of a drop shadow?
