he4rty - Thanks for the Gradient. That will make short work of creating the text effect. There's another script called Gradient from Image that will create that gradient for you but you have to crank up the amount on the number of Segments.

I just downloaded the gradient. Here is how it worked ....for me in gradient, glossy. Not the same effect. Is this how it should look?

Looking at the results it seems you are blending the gradient top to bottom instead of left to right, then you will still need to follow the steps onwards from adding text layer, but thats the bonus of the gradient you can blend it any direction you choose.

Think I'll give it a miss then. Looks to be more involved than I thought.

this is a really cool effect hopefully I will learn to install and use the plug-ins you mentioned so I can try it!
