Is there a way to save a zoomed image in the zoomed size ? I like to take pictures of birds, but maybe only one bird interests me, I zoom in on him, crop the rest around him and then I open SnagIt8 and save my zoomed image that way. If the only possibility to achieve this in GIMP is by resizing and then cropping, the resize parameters of GIMP are difficult for me, it would be easier if it gave % values.

My mistake, I just noticed that I am able to resize by percentages. I am sure this answers my question.

Glad you resolved things. Nonetheless, I'd point out that your original approach -- zooming and then taking a screenshot -- was not ideal. The methods used for scaling the screen display during zooming are generally optimized for speed, not quality. When you scale the image itself, GIMP uses a higher quality, but slower, approach.

Saul, as I get better at this, I will probably shutter at my original work-around, grin.....
