Esper I have created a text effect on a transparent back ground which I have blurred to smooth out the colours and was wondering what is the best curve shape to use to sharpen the alpha channel.

Use a S shape, or just use Brightness/Contrast to add contrast to the Layer mask:

Left to right: original, gaussian blur 20px, blurred disk with contrast applied to layer mask:

Thanks, just a quick query though when you mention use Brightness/contrast to add contrast to the layer mask to you mean to the layer as I am not using a mask or do I need to create a layer mask. Also could you possible post a picture of what the S shape curve should look like. Cheers.
