Seeking some help on how to go about smoothing this image without loosing too much detail. I've run into this kinda weave pattern before and have had mixed results depending on the size of the source.

I would normally start with a G'Mic "Smooth [anisotropic]", then a "Blur non Edges" with a small Gaussian and keep the selection and add a small feather. Then with the selection active, I'd do a "PhotocomiX Smoothing" with less aggressive settings than the defaults. (Sometimes more than 1 pass)
Lastly a "PhotocomiX Smoothing" on the entire image without the selection, then a smart sharpen.

This "usually" with give me respectable results if the image was large enough, even if I had to do some manual smudging here and there, but this image isn't as big as most I try this on.

I was just curious if others have come across a better way to deal with this specific type of weaving/blocking?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
