I refreshed G'MIC but Boost 2 didn't get loaded. I used Boost 1 with the default on a squirrel I found here.

Not sure David has loaded the second preset in, O. You have to add that to the .gmic file manually.

UPDATE: As of 12 minutes ago, David did add the second preset to G'MIC, refresh away! :)

This is an image I got at stock xchg

Boost II. I love the way it enhances the markings on the two okapis. (Yeah, I had to look up the plural of okapi in the dictionary.)

Did you keep track of your settings as you randomly used the preset? I really like the next to last meerkat image, and have been trying to duplicate it. I love the way it highlights and lets the colors come through.

I used the default settings in Boost I on the squirrel.

The original squirrel is here.

Not really but i hope i may replicate
I was thinking to a even better way to solve, create a few basic presets (to be then finetuned by users )

there is a obstacle (filter appear in the favs, and favs can't be faved again ) but i think to have a workaround to create and share also presets, not only the filter

so stay in tune ...

PS
@O Thank i will check and maybe change default
(maybe not...is possible that are overcompressed jpg artefacts, barely visible in the original but made more visible by the filter effect )

I think that may be over come adjusting the various sliders in the filter. I wanted to use the default settings so I could see well what it started with.

maybe later...i want finish my very first project of gmic filter ( i was blocked by some complex " if " )...and i am fascinated by still hypotetic Value Color and Luminosity mode...more i need a sort of simple Fade control as component.

Once i had some books on C, i never read them, not a single one
but i was often staring the C-books pile wandering...usually something as:
" Holy God , how is possible that is needed to read all that crap just to be able to display a "Hello World" on the screen ? I may do without C , just with black ink "

But now is much more interesting not only because Gmic language is easier, and the gmic plugin has everything else ,(i mean interface ,input/output option , preview )ready.
.but mostly because the results for me are much more worth the efforts than automatize the typing of "hello world"
(how is possible that after generations of teachers of C, C#, C+, Java, Python and so on and on...nobody come out with something more motivating as first result then a "Hello Word"? )

i think that chose at best the default values is very important for the usability of a filter BUT i didn't yet take care to find the best default setting

it is on top of my to do list (new versions are coming soon )

IN the while i appreciate suggestion (as example what happened in the first O test, i mean the pixelation should happen very seldom
with good default values )

I love all the cool results people are getting.

That ship is great, Greg. The touch of red along with the blue and grey ... yum.

This is very cool PC, thanks for making them. I arrived at an interesting image through the Graphics Boost I preset. I had saved a few fractal images I generated and ran one through the filter with default settings and G'MIC set to give a new layer output, then colorized the output layer with default, then set layer mode to Grain extract:
