i'd like to convert a GIF to PNG/JPG.

the GIFs aren't bad for a gif, but it's still only 256 colors and granular...

is there a specific method of enhancing and smoothing 256 to into 24bit ?
in the above example, i just BLURed 1px.
I'd rather have something that doesn't blur edges, just aliases them, maybe.

(this is just a sample i found on the web, but it's good enough).

at zoom1:1, I see no differences between your 2 images
But I'm on a good old CRT (so almost no granular effect for me), I guess LCD's owners (and you have one I assume) see some differences.

Have you tried greyCstoration ?

lol I can see a big difference, I know that anisotropic smoothing in greyCstoration, G'MIC does selective bluring you can adjust settings many ways to get desired effect heres an example my results may not be the best settings though just showing.

I would also say the same.

In 800% zoom the difference is perceptible.
But what do you did, not so much difference than if use anisotropic smoothing in G'MiC.

Such big difference for you guys?
Ah those LCDs are killing me, the way they treat pixels, I hate them for that, the day I'll have no other options then buying one, I'll cry to see my smooth blended pixels again. But enough drama :P

Well, the higher the zoom greater the difference between the images.

I've just made a G'MIC filter for this purpose. It does anisotropic smoothing and has and edge threshold to restore overly smooth edges.

If you update you G'MIC filters from the internet, you should find it in Testing->Iain Fergusson-> iain_unindex

@Akros:
Errr...
Yes of course but that wasn't my point, I was talking about the differences seen at 1:1 zoom (100%)
;)
