Text around arc tutorial

molly: thank you for taking the time to write this up for us all, it's very appreciated! i have a youtube video with this that i keep having to go back to every time i need to do this because i can never remember exatly how, but once i've seen it in plain writing i can usually remember it well.

of nuts, I have not figured out how to install py files in my mac and get them to show. I know where to put them, but the only ones that show in my menus are the ones that Partha has already added natively

You need to start a terminal, CD to the directory with the plugin, and issue

Code: Select all

chmod +x the_plugin.py

You can also do a blanket:

Code: Select all

chmod +x *.py

Yes, there is one, buried in some "misc applications" folder.

Necessary in this case, unless there is another way to set the execution rights on a file.

@2-ton...Can you right click on your py file and click properties and see if it has permissions checked?

It's not that simple on OSX it seems

Okay, just a thought. I guess Mac has a lot of things that are the same but in a different place...like Linux

Erisian, did you fancy up your text before or after you did the text to path????

Sorry Toni I missed this earlier. You have to do it afterwards otherwise the text layer ceases to be a text layer and becomes a graphic - then you can't map it to the path.
