So here is an interesting mistaking, performed a drop shadow on intial text and trimed it to fit text edge, this was to try and create shadow from the other letters prior to mapping. Forgot to merge layer together and ended up running the 3D script on the 2px edged shadow, looked good so went with it.

he4rty: aha, i see what ofnuts meant now, thanks for explaining :). nice accident you had there!
wallace and esper: really nice job, both of you. i like that you put some colour to the text in yours, wallace, and i like the way you made your background, esper - how very like you to "correct" the background and put light and shadow in the right places...

I guess I'm a little late in posting, but here is a slightly different take on the basic idea.

jas45: i like that! i think the darker coloured text on the lighter coloured background works better.

alc59 - That's really good, I'm sitting here looking at the Tux and Wilbur images and thinking of cookie cutters, time to upload Chrisf's Cookie texture and have a play.

Difficult to decide what thread to post this in but as the inspiration came from here this is where I have decided to post it.

alc 59 - Thanks for the Inspiration
Esper - Thanks for the metallic gradient, which you can find here
Chrisf - Thanks for the cookie texture and the table cloth, which can be found here

Although it doesn't overly follow the tutorial it does use the 3D Script to create the depth of the cutter.

That looks good, He4rty. Seems that any topic on GC will eventually turn back to cookies. :)
