"Texel" is defined by wikipedia as :
Quote:
A texel, or texture element (also texture pixel) is the fundamental unit of texture space

For a photograph, this could be defined as the minimal size of a repeating texture for instance.
When you copy patches from your images to fill-in the masked region, it's better to set a patch size that is directly related to the texel size of the texture around your mask. So basically, you won't choose the same patch size to inpaint a mask in a grass texture, or in water for instnce.

@ O & Molly,
Someone on the GMIC site had a problem with edges of the mask remaining. Their solution was to turn off brush dynamics. Hope this helps.

This has been possible thanks to the great work of Samj, so thanks again Samj for your time (just for the anecdote, she told me some months ago that she won't do packages anymore for G'MIC, so she's doing this as a bonus).

:yes :tyspin

Thank you very much Samj!

Sorry for bumping an older thread, but inpainting is awesome. I just used the stock settings. Very, very impressive filter. Looking forward to using different settings.

Really amazed at this feature. Removed the Sears Tower in Chicago:

This filter can do amazing things, but the difficulty is to find the best parameters.
Here is what I get with your image, Warrior :

I've chosen a bigger patch size (38!) than the default (7), in order to make the reconstructed texture more coherent.

Very nice! I was reading a small tut last night, that said, "As I understand it from David, the Patch size parameter adjusts the size of the area that will be copied from the surrounding texture to place into the region. The Lookup size adjusts how far away from the inpaint region to look for new textures (similar to “sampling width” in Resynthesizer), and the Blend size adjusts how big of a blend to allow when patching." I was testing on the building removal based on this. It did take some testing, but really enjoy the process. I didn't do any screen shots of the red I applied, but here's the parameters I used to take the building out:

I created a layer over the original, and used the pencil, in red, the default mask color, and colored over the section I wanted to take out. Merged the layer into the original, and ran the inpaint patch based.

Inpainting is really cool. Here's a shot of Lower Falls I took from Artist's Point, in Yellowstone:

Removed the falls, and river:

I'm still lost on how to work this properly.
Everything I try to do. It just comes out distorted.
It's blending the image with other objects.
Any Help is appreciated here. Thank you.
