Good morning
It did the same thing on mine(gimp 6.2),but it worked when i alpha selection AND add a gradient color then it bevels.

Thanks for your input Pirate but I tried selecting the text, tried different fonts, tried different colors. Still no go. I'm using gimp 2.8.4.

I tried it with a gradient, too, Pirate, and selected it. Still doesn't work.

It may be our different versions of Gimp. You have v2.6.2 I have v2.8.4.

It is just going to be a waiting game for us. It is supposed to be fixed in our version of 2.8.4 but it isn't in the Fedora repository yet. I know, it sucks. Maybe they will wait until 2.8.6 comes out or 2.9.

Win 32bits - Gimp 2.8.4
These are my results:
1 - inner bevel with all default values
2 - outer bevel ONLY AFTER HAVING INCREASED THE CANVAS (otherwise I got an empty layer)

OH NO not Fedora again it's driving me nuts this script works well and is easy to work out as you see people are able to get returned the results they expected and to be honest It's been used in all my scripts that follow tutorials that ask for a bevel from layer effects or bevel 2.1

OH YES Graechan,
There is certainly no fault in the script, it is just the version O and I have. I think it is to do with gradients. This is where mine all shut down Gimp with no warning. It will be fixed in the next version and we will just have to drool while looking at all the other great results.

I wonder if there is a patch for this out there?

Rod This script does not use gradients it uses the emboss plugin and curves to achieve the effect

:puzzled Don't ask me what happened. The script started working with nothing different from me. Thanks Graechan for suggestions about the settings.

This is Inner Bevel and Outer Bevel with the gloss cranked way up.

Thanks Graechan. I just tried the script again and it's balking like it did before. Guess I have to shut down Gimp and reopen it a few times to get it working again. :gaah

I never even noticed that Error Console before. I had it open, ran the script and it worked like it's supposed to. I think there's a gremlin lurking about my computer. I'll keep trying so hopefully whatever is happening will show up in the Error Console.

I don't know what to do. I've run it about 6 times now and it worked each time.

Talk of the error console has scared it into working, if you have a console placed somewhere you don't have to open it but it will record and save any errors, so if something does not work you can open and read why

you can then save the error as a txt file to post

BTW I like your red O
