For an even better chrome effect. After running chrome do a "New from visible" and run curves on the new layer.

Very nice, Rod. Your "chrome" silver looks much better than the tutorial results. It looks more like real silver.

I love turquoise with the black imperfections in it and was hoping to find a real, polished, turquoise texture like that but Bing doesn't understand me.

Had to try the tut. I attached my notes in a zipped .txt file for anyone who wants them.

Those notes are very bare bones notes. You may want to watch the tutorial while looking at them to see how some of the stuff works. I didn't use his background so didn't write about that in the notes.

I attached the turquoise pattern I made. I made it seamless by using resynthesizer. I didn't do the Hue and Saturation step with it, but did the Brightness and Contrast step.

Thank you AnMal, I look at mine and I think I should have cut off that point on the left on the drop shadow before blurring it. It looks extraneous on the O. It doesn't hurt anything but it just doesn't look "right" to me.

I don't know how I missed this topic, but anyway, great work guys/gals.
I love the idea of getting back to the jewellery making. It was fun when we were doing this a couple years ago.

It comes out OK but I can't imagine ever having a practical use for this ...

mike: that looks nice, and as long as it looks nice who needs another use?
ek22: love the gold and purple, well done! and thanks for sharing the gold gradient too, can't have enough of metallic gradients.

i made this, but i'm not too happy with the crossings - they came out clumsy and i tried to correct some of them by hand but that just made it worse. it was fun trying, though, and i'll work on the right way of making good looking crossings.

Very pretty, the crossings are something probably you will be the only one to notice.
They are all so nice. Love the purples, pinks and everythang in between.

Mike haven't you ever wanted to add turquoise jewelry to your indian art? They used turquoise quite extensively. :bigthup
Anyway it's just another way to make cool text for posters, flyers and the like.
Mike my stuff isn't always useful just fun to do and keeps me in practice using Gimps not so often used tools such as curves. :)

Mike, you could always make a nice brooch or some kind of jewellery with it. I can see a number of things to use it for. It is the artistic part that matters.
