I fear you'll need more patience than was needed for the last few releases ;)
But don't worry, it won't take as long as it took from 0.8 to 0.9

I see you like knot grids.
For the next release I'll try to make grid editing easier not only with a plugin to insert such grids but also a new tool to allow an editing workflow similar to the tile-based knot designers.

I believe that changing the type of multiple edges can be implemented kinda soon, most likely not 0.9.3 but 0.9.4.

Better ways to change colors of parts of the knot will come as well but you'll have to wait until after 1.0.0, once I add support for multiple layers.

Mattia is amazing at the rate of new development program!
I think at any moment will be released version 0.9.3 with the option Plugins -> Insert -> Insert lattice.
This is a great convenience - for me to try to design fonts.
Great tribute!

Version 0.9.3 now has all the features needed for a simpler grid-based editing (Insert lattice and a new editing tool).
As of now the new tool toggles nearby edges with a single click, maybe I'll also add a way to toggle edges with mouse drags.

There are still many features planned for 0.9.3 so it will take a little time before it's released but it should have more new features compared to the last two releases.

Lyle, do you have any suggestion on how arbitrary shapes should be filled? I think this feature can get in 0.9.3.

:ninja

I know from make legos that blur>pixelize would create the best fit for objects to lego grid array. Maybe some way to detect the grid spacing then do a blur>pixelize to fit the bitmap mask adapt to the nearest edge within the array could be done. The closer the grid array, the better the result of course. It would mean more blocky looking (stair stepping) renders possibly, but again, it would make adapting a mask to a grid array easier maybe. :)

edit; pixelized to 50X50px array then edge detected for what I'm sort of talking about. the knot would follow the trace then of course. :)

OK; here's a fake knot to get a better idea of what a knotter result would look like. Knotter, of course, would close the ends so it would give you an astronomically cleaner result. I created a fill grid and ran flutewaves for this result. :)

If you can make the fill more smooth that would be awesome by the way. I just don't know of a way to give you a clean selection for a fill, but again, I'm just a novice. again, if the pixels are smaller, you get a cleaner look but then you have to be doing some heavy math to fill the container cleanly; well beyond my petigree. lol

:)

Had another brain fart. If you first fill the container then stroke the edge of the container and adaptably merge the knots, you could possibly the the ideal result that my vision sees. Faked it again with flutewaves. :)

I have still many features planned for 0.9.3 but I think some can be postponed. I can't give a precise date but I think not earlier than two weeks from now.

Regarding the fill tool, I've written a script that will extract the convex hull of the selected nodes. That can be the basis for the filling.

This is extremely cool looking Lyle. :)

I managed to make something working for the filling stuff. It's quite inaccurate but I'll fix it before releasing.

OK this is what I've got so far:

It's not super intuitive to use though.

No, you draw it in Knotter. In the picture above the left side is before the operation, the right side after the operation.

The development version, see:
1. Script (Console);
2. Plugins -> Other -> Fil area (Convex Hull and Single Edge Loop);
3. Plugins -> Insert (Insert Latice and Insert Polygon)
4. Configure Plugins.
Mattia - you can ask for an explanation as to what will be used?

Script Console
Shows errors from the plugins and allows to execute script snippets.

Fill area
For an explanation see http://knotter.mattbas.org/Manual/Plugi ... /Fill_Area
I know it's a bit awkward to use, maybe it will be more user-friendly in future versions.

Insert Polygon
The same thing as before, now it's a plugin.

Insert Lattice
Insert a grid of nodes.

Configure Plugins
You can enable/disable plugins and view info about them.

It works already.

Here is an example:
Image

The green lines are user input, white lines is the output.
You need to type the snippets on the line at the bottom (light green text).
The language description is available at http://knotter.mattbas.org/Manual/Plugins/Scripting

Right now it only shows exceptions thrown by the plugin JavaScript code, invalid plugin (plugins for which the JSON file is not well defines) will not be reported
