Other than the "view as as grid" size minimums for dockable tabs, everything else seems to work well. I prefer to use "view as list" anyway.

I would like to be able to just turn off the right side dock but 22px seems the minimum setting.

sessionsrc always reverts back to (right-docks-width "22")

Phew; had not tested Mathmap since I upgraded to 2.8.6. Stop scarring me. lolol

Sorry about my prose to your response. Have no idea as to why you are experiencing your issue. I can say I have Mathmap installed in my user directory and not the GIMP intalled directory since I try to only let things installed by GIMP stored there. :)

I installed this new version and noticed an oddity which might be a possible bug.

When using the Text tool, the three fonts named "Sans", "Serif" and "Monospace" seem to produce the very same result as regards the rendered characters.

Could someone else confirm this issue?

Onkels version of Gimp-2.8.7 portable - same thing - except trying to save PNG format crashes GIMP.
Onkel you may want to fix this. :)
Here i have sans and monospace look alike but serif looks fine.

At least the Font previews seem to know work. lol

I still want my pi back. Not sure why symbols are so hard to fix in the newer version of GIMP. Not sure how 2.8x broke fonts in the first place either. Oh well; my spiel. :)

Yep it seems any time i try and export as PNG a text layer with a bg it crashes.
Alpha channel maybe?

Sorry Rod, I can't reproduce.
Saves all very well. With layer mask, with alpha channel, jpg, png, tif, bmp and, of cource, xcf.
Tried with both 32bit and 64bit versions.
The other bug with the fonts, I can reproduce. But the difference with Rod and his serif-font, where
in my version sans, monospaced and serif looks just the same, I think, it is a problem with the installed
fonts, not a problem with gimp. I don't know enough about the content of the gimp code, I only have knowledge
how to compile and sometimes find bugs, but mostly I'm not able to fix them. So: Bugzilla.

It doesn't crash if i export an opened JPEG or other format as PNG. Only when i create a new PNG file does it crash.

Maybe this solution will help.

Some fonts, like Sans, are shown improperly
See also the Bugzilla report
Cause:

The fontconfig package installation writes absolute paths of the building system to fonts.conf and conf.d/*.conf. When GIMP is installed on the Windows target system, these absolute paths become invalid.

Solution:

The bug should be reported to the Fontconfig developers. Meanwhile do on the Windows target system:

1. Close GIMP.

2. Edit the file <GIMP installation folder>\etc\fonts\fonts.conf:

Replace the line <include ignore_missing="yes">$a_directory/conf.d</include> by <include ignore_missing="yes">..\..\share\fontconfig\conf.avail</include>

3. Restart GIMP.

Altering the font.conf file did not work for me in windows vista 32 bit. I still get the same type face for monospace and sans. serif seems okay though.

With the latest gimp version i'm getting gimp-gmic.exe error message
on gimp start-up. Entry point for g-gmic.exe not found blahblah, some missing dll blahblah.

All software 64-bit versions. This is the first time ever i'm getting problems with installing GMIC.
Uninstall-reinstall gmic, cleaning up AppData folder didn't help.

Can anyone comment on that?

Thanks everyone who replied to my former request.

I was about to communicate this issue as a bug to the Gnome Bugzilla, but thanks to your indication, pogogogo, now I know that there is no need to do it anymore, since the oddity in matter has already been filed as well as marked as a duplicate of a previous bug.

Hopefully this will be fixed for the next stable release. :)

@K1TesseraEna

There is a small problem compatibility with G'MIC (64-bit Win) and the new version of Gimp 2.8.6 Sourceforge :
The Gimp 2.8.6 compiler is no longer the same.

******
I will not propose a compiled version of G'MIC-64bit-Win because there will be problems with users and different versions of Gimp 2.8.
I'll maybe make a portable version with binaries from Sourceforge where everything is pre-installed to avoid problems.
