Hmm. Test.
My advice: make a copy of the old things:

gimp\etc\fonts\*.* (all files and directories)
gimp\bin\libfontconfig-1.dll

Then replace existing with content of zip.
For me, at least the three fonts (sans, serif, monospaced) are quite different then.
But the problem seems to be deeper in fontconfig. A bug report is open, we'll wait...

Thanks Onkel. I am not all that worried about the fonts i rarely use those particular fonts anyways.I can wait for the bug to be fixed.
