I don't know where or how to use "cracks". I did this sample by playing with a texture and layer mode. Is this effect what you are trying?

Dahlia & Issabella.... you both did a wonderful job on your photos!

Issabella, yours looks like you just uncovered a valuable Roman mural... great effect! If you didn't use G'MIC's Cracks on it, how did you do it?

Dahlia, yours looks like it is printed on a cracked fabric (or as dinasset said, painted on leather) ... looks beautiful!

Do a search on the Sistine Chappel. A fresco is the art of painting on wet plaster/cement and, allowing paint to embed itself within this matrix. Once the matrix dries, the result can last for centuries. :)

Meemaw and Lyle I created a new layer on the picture. Filled it up with a texture and I set it at subtract layer mode at 60% opacity.

I did the texture a seamless one. I post it below.

I used the Craquelure plug in for this one. Makes it easy (cheating). Do you have it? It is a free one.

I used the same pic and did it with G'MIC Cracks. You can adjust the size, density of the cracks. Then adjusted opacity.

I did the same image again with Craquelure filter and then with G'MIC cracks.

IMO Cracks is more realistic as a "cracked" image, Craquelure is nice but closer to a (glass) texture

Thank you, Dinasset. I'm not sure which I like better, but I agree that the G'MIC Cracks is much more realistic.
