Wow! That piece is incredible!!! How can you manage such digital magic in Gimp? Is that some sort of a fractal?

It isn't in GIMP
It was made in Apophysis 7x ;)

uhm.... I just realized that entering fractals made in Apo might not be ehh, good?
Thoughts? added a poll

Congrats!! That a very cool image. It was my pick for the artwork/image of the month.

I know we talked about giving winners the option to change their avatar description from GimpChat Member to AOTM Winner (or something else). What do you think?

I voted yes to the question of whether we are allowed to use other programs in the "Art of the Month" competition.
If we did not, people that use Paint, Blender, Inkscape, Apophys, Incendia, Photoshop-Plugins and the like would not be allowed to enter.
There are lots of people that use a combination of these with Gimp as a 'finisher' method.
Some of our most prominent artists that frequent GC and GT use a combination of two or more products.
Voting NO to the question will stop a lot of people competing.
Voting YES will also allow entries done in Ps and other proprietary software.

Perhaps the question should be; should we allow only Free or Open Source software entries?

I would be using PS if this was true

Thank you first of all, and added another poll option xD

I myself think this would be cool, it would be for the month and then would change on a month to month basis, fairly easy to set up too

I like the idea of the AOTM being passed to each winner for the month.

First off let me say congrats to Willy on such an excellent piece of fractal work!

I agree with being able to use any graphics program to enter.personally I use Gimp for all my images but i use other graphic programs with it, unless it's a Gimp tutorial. :).Many times i am back and forth to Paint Dot Net, Photo Shop, Xara, and Dogwaffle by using Shellout. :)

I do believe however you should use Gimp at least for part of the image.

I also agree the award should be passed each month to a new winner. :)
