Take care, don't stare the globe or the Globe will start staring at you :wh

The Gimp post work here was very simple :i just selected by the ... floor that was of a too light blue, and darkened it, for a darker atmosphere and to make pop out more the object.

Simple but did a difference

Thanks Erisian, on that kind of objects (spheres, ellipsoids ) maps on the normals work really well
A pity that , even when map are seamless, there are visible seams (in this case too were seams but i rotated the map till they went out of view, in the backside )

PS a linguistic problem , dictionary doesn't help much:
what the exact meaning of "normals" in 3d programs ?

To the best of my understanding, a Normal is the surface of a bump that is parallel to the object on which the bump appears and perpendicular to the bump itself. If you were looking down on a pyramid with a flat top, the flat top would be the Normal.

Funny thing, normal also refers to parallel in mathematics too. I guess since fractals are math in art it only makes since. Sorry to intrude.

No problem Zward. Normals in 3D art are referring to texture.

Ah I see, was just curious if there was any relation to the mathematics side of it because fractals are nothing more than mathematical formulas, are they not?

EDIT:
Completely scratch out what I said! Normal is perpendicular to the plane of reference. My Bad.

Yep. It's complex maths. However, the term "Normals" is used in all 3D sculpting, not just 3D fractals.
