One of my latest GIMP fractal manipulations (more like fractal mutilation)

(image itself is link to bigger dA version)

This one has more of a cartoonish look than what I usually shoot for - but the original fractal (the blue waves, manipulated with iWarp) was fairly flat. This is the chapter 22 header for my illustrated novel, and I'm not sure if I like different styles for the headers. It's nice to have at least a little consistency.

Stylish and full of action! The more "cartoony" style works well I think. For some reason it reminds me of the old adventure classic "Monkey Island" here and there. :)

I grew up on that game! (The old 1990, 1991 ones). I heard they made a redo, but I can't imagine it without pc-speaker/adlib sound and 256 color VGA graphics. (or disk #22. CD is just not the same).

It's funny you mention that, because I occasionally do throw in references to the first two games in the story (not so much the art).

Thanks! I think it sums up some of my students' feelings on fractal geometry.
