I know not many people are very interested in photo manipulations on GC rather than applying various gmic filters, much less post the results here.

I'm starting a series of photo image manipulations done basically with the gimp's core filters (no 3rd party scripts and plugins).

k1tesseraena: those are so beautiful! i love the one with the almost-silhoutte man in the water.
i think you're wrong about photo manipulation, though, i think gc has many members interested in that - but perhaps not the ones who are most active right now? when i posted a photo manip project here this autumn i got great help from many members who obviously knew what they were talking about.

Thanks, AnMal! That's exactly what I mean , don't see their results very often. Maybe it's kind of boring thing to do?
BTW, it's a woman ;)

Here's another one I made this morning (sorry, it's huge, but I didn't crop it on purpose - you can actually read the text of the Declaration of Independence in full view mode)

I do mostly photo manipulations, so I find seeing others very interesting. Also, using Gimp raw, as someone said, gives you so much more insight into how filters, and their settings, work. And sometimes, if you are only doing 1 photo, it's just as easy and fun to do it by hand as to use a filter.

Yes K1t!
I like photo manipulations, restoration and enhancement!

I liked the idea used in the image of the beach! With a musical score fused to the scene.
The image seems to have gained musicianship! :clap

Odd.
I don't see any images in the first K1T's post..
Though I can see them through html source code but that's not very handy :P

Ok, found. They were adblocked for an unknown reason (my fault probably). There's no ad in GC anyway, right ?

2-ton, Akros.
I'm glad i was somewhat wrong in my assumptions. It was my impression there was no photo creativity going on lately except for some filter testing.

Here's another quick one.

I think you are wrong K1te! many people are very interested in photomanips. I certainly am and I very seldom use Gmic. I usually try to do everything with the basic Gimp heritage filter set.
Here is one of mine . The Alcoa smelter in Geelong through the chainlink mesh. I tried to convey the industrial bleakness by using a grunge layer and accentuating the lines and square areas.

Amazing! Very interesting!
Since I do not speak english ... and now I was speechless

K1t can see how the original was?

That way it becomes difficult not ask for a tutorial!

I have no idea how you get it ...
Managed to impress me! :cool
Congrats! :clap :bigthup

Here is another quick one I did. There are many examples and tutorials of this type of manipulation on the internet. I should have taken out the reflection underneath the photo of the other person but I forgot that on the day. They are fun to do but my passion is the grunge and old dark moody stuff. They are also much more difficult to do.

Very nice rendition, wbool!
Always liked your sig image and I do remember your posts here. Very inspiring!

Akros, not sure which one you mean, summer/winter landscape?

Here's the original for that one.

Image

The Declaration is compiled from 3 photo images.
Brooklyn Bridge is also from 3 images.
Silhouette on the beach is actually just two texture overlays.
Working on double-exposure images right now and two tutorials (embossed paper effect and pressed text effect).
Don't know about summer/winter tutorial, it came out a bit sloppy, I need to improve a technique, since i'm not very satisfied with the end result.

Nice WBOOL63!

But... Where are the another one? That "Alcoa" industry?
That background was cool!
:bigthup

Found. I was on the wrong page.

:nono :nono

Improving technique is always a good option, but I thought the amazing result!
Had not seen anything like this.

Thanks for providing the original. :bigthup

@Akros. Good job! I like the way you did the grass and the tree, I would take that and combine with my own to get the results i'd be happy with.
How did you do that?
Also, I found PS tutorial but not all the steps are reproducible in gimp.

Most of the stuff I do with Gimp is photomanipulation as I'm not very good at painting, and I tend to only use a couple of the G'Mic filters, but that's mostly because I don't know what most of them do.
This picture - the result of a lazy sunday afternoon - was done with a fair few layers for the sky, some blending and a lot of smudging. The eyes were something I prepared earlier, but made with standard filters, and the main picture of the jetty was my first attempt at the HDR effect. That was done using some Canon software, so nothing to do with Gimp on that one.
No idea what the picture is suppose to be about, just messing around stuff.
