I like the last one, except for one thing:
- the subject on foreground is less "focused" than the background; was is your choice?

The starting point is irrelevant, when you apply a set of so strong effects, it could have been also a perfect modern image; at the beginning I tought you wanted to improve the colours because they are faded, but this was not your aim.
"Provando e riprovando" is the correct technique, but IMO you have to add other two rules:
- 1: simplify (no need to sum up the effects of many filters)
- 2: throw away what does not result good, re-try/improve only what seems to create an interesting look

The exercise I had imposed on myself yesterday:
1) Explore the filters of the "Colors" menu (except the first 10 + threshold that I use often)
2) With source, a vintage image (to better distinguish filter effects and their strength)

I agree.Yesterday I did not "improved" according to my taste

because it was not my first aim, which was the discovery of filters in the menu Colors.
