Just as a side note, I only recently found out that, with a little creating blending added, you can get polygonize>energy to create much better meshes.

I hear you, Diego. Wasn't happy (and did indeed start a thread at pixlus about it) when I had to redo both my fake smudge and bilat smoothing presets but I'm sure David had a reason for updating those presets.

Pat, in few words:
1.create a layer with a net of white lines (on transparency)
2.displace them using a B&W copy of the original image used as a map
3.create a second layer with only the (white) contours of the image on transparency, using one of the Edge filters in gimp
4.create a black BG
All together these layers "create" the mapped "mesh" on black.

Edit: Pat, I released a filter to perform those steps,. if you like you may find it under "Special Editions..."
