I am still exploring the GMIC>contours>++ and Lighting Effects filters in combination and am startled at what I can get out of them.

When I first joined Gimp Chat, I noticed a post from Lylejk in which he said "... of course I'm a filters man ..."; not long after Dinasset urged me strongly to play around with GMIC.

Here are some more results of a fractal passed through the above filters ...

Issabella - thank you; here is a photo of part of Sydney skyline at night from Darling Harbour passed though various of these filters.

Computer/network down for a couple of days so I am suffering GimpChat withdrawal symptoms! So I had a play with some fractals and then GMIC then good old 'lighting effects'.

Sallyanne thank you; appreciate your comments.

Well its cold and wet here so I do not need an excuse to keep on Gimping. Following images are from Arakne path creator>Graechan's Shine Alpha>GMIC contours>Lighting Effects>Map/fractal trace.

For those of us who cannot draw or paint, there can never be enough filters. Just having fun with GIMP.

You are becoming quite an expert in Gimp and how filters combine and the effects they create.

2-ton - thank you for your kind words, but 'expert' not really; I am just exploring, learning and trying things out. But most of all I am just having a lot of GIMP fun ... my garden though is now getting neglected!

Filters from Script-Fu and Python can produce great results too - this one derives from the same set of paisley paths I have used in Anmal's paisley thread, but now it is difficult to see them so I posted it in my 'fab filters' thread instead ... because I can ;)

Got away from 'glass' today and played with the 'continuous droste' that others are raving about ... also made a 'tim tam' chocolate biscuit brush. Combined the outputs from droste (still using Lyle's preset) using that brush with another of my old favourite fabulous filters, 'lighting effects' ...

There is a lot more to discover here :)

May I share a few? They are much more mild than OMG's beautiful creations but I am just beginning to experiment with G'MIC filters now that I have updates (courtesy of Dinasset). The first is the lane to my house in winter. The other two are with other filters.

They're all beautiful, Pat. I'd be careful in that Lane, it looks dangerously icy.

Pat625 - there is no stopping you now; lovely results using GMIC and I am so glad that you are having so much fun after your download problems. From my own experience it is not unusual for GMIC updates to fail aas the site is not available.

I especially like that 'mirrored' effect on your lane and the roses kaliedoscope; by the way what is all that white stuff that covers your trees :hehe
