Haven't shared, but I've played around with the framing capabilities of the this cool plugin too. So many things you can do with it; don't think the guy even knew when he created this cool plugin. :)

Thanks Molly.

It only takes one layer to make the frame. The plug-in does all the work.

"O" Do I have to have python in order to use that plug-in? It is a bit confusing, maybe more than a bit.

I love the inverted selection trick! I didn't think of it, but it works sweetly!
I used the "Crown Molding" gradient on it's own layer, and did a colorize on the frame.

Yes, you do, Molly. :smiley2

Clever idea. I love the way the corners look like they've actually been mitered and joined together.

I used the Rectangular selection tool and selected a 25x25 square on one of the jack-o'-lanterns, copied, Ctrl + Shift + V and made a pattern with that. Used it for the frame.

Gimp may not be the only freeware out there, but I firmly believe it's the best!! You can do some incredibly sweet things with Gimp, G'MIC, Mathmap and all these fun filters/scripts!

I used the plug-in on this Jack-o'-lantern to trace around it. I inverted the selection first. Then I made it into a sphere.

I attached the font I got the Jack-o'-lantern from. Unzip into your fonts folder.

The perfect word for this, with trick-or-treating right around the corner, is... SWEET!

Tried to make a frame with map but I can't get it working yet so had to make one by hand and ended up as a shadow box instead.

I need to find a better way to smooth the round selections. They come out a bit rough-looking.

I've had good luck using G'MIC and GREYCStoration for smoothing O. I also had success finding the edges and stroking the resulting selection using the smudge tool, but I like simple. Give GREYC or G'MIC a shot. :)

Thanks Lyle. I used PhotoComix's smoothing filter in G'MIC on one and it looked much better.

When I was using the Ellipse tool, I tried feathering just a little but the plug-in didn't like it and just filled the frame with a single color. Tried several different sizes of feathering.

All cool results. I found the framing capabilities of wrap map to be awesome. I'm converting my best results to masks for re-use.

woo hoo I finally got to use wrap map... not too happy the way the color spilled from one letter to the next.
maybe I should have spaced the letters more???
Image

BTW, PhotoMaster, how did you get your frame to look like it is beveled?

[quote="Oregonian"]Downloaded wrap-map-0.2.py and it's much faster!

Pardon my inexperience...I went there, clicked on the wrapmap.py thingy and saw the script or code or whatever. What do you do with that?
