If you hadn't told, I would've assumed the ball was made in inkscape too!

Working on a golf ball. Way harder that pool balls or likes with smooth surface.
Seems to be no tutorials for inkscape, the ones i found are for PS and the results aren't that great (to put it softly).

So, help, help, help!!! Has anyone done a golf ball tut or seen the good one, by the way?

There was some discussion and some examples a few years back in here. I will try to find it if I can.

Alc - Nice job on the ball & pin, my only critisism would be the finger holes in the ball seem to big and to far apart.

K1TesseraEna - You are reading my mind just lately, you beat me to the spirals and I've just been looking at Golf ball tutorials, found the one aready posted then found this thread on here, check out page 2 and lyle's creations using mathmap very good.

That's the thread I was looking for then got detained by my dryer dinging...saying come and get me emptied.

I've tried that Sphere creator golf ball in GIMP just recently and dismissed it for the same reason. Other than that the ball itself looks great, texture-wise and reflection are very realistic, but can't control spacing/density of the craters.



I can't read minds (thank goodness!) but I guess that's how creative minds work, seeing/reading the same threads. Thank you for the thread link, he4rty. Thank you alc! I'll look it up later on. Too busy right now.

Great photo-realistic work. It really has depth.

I had another go at the Golf Ball. This time made it with Blender without additional rendering (gonna try Luxblend over the weekend tho)
