Getting pretty lousy results for some reason, Diego. I originally installed this a few days ago but removed. I just installed it again and changed 0 (auto) for the number of colors to 8. This is what I get (auto is worse). I do have plasma2 installed but maybe it's an older version; just not sure. Plugin shows that it is using plasma2 during the run.

I know that it's not good for any image.
In this case I would ask you:
- did you try only with this image?
- can you post the original?
(Maybe Issabella can suggest something...)

To help you do your checks:
I took an image (random from my repository)

Then run the filter, all defaults

Then changed from dots to lines

Nothing special, but at least acceptable.
You may load the source and try to check whether your results are like mine.

Lyle, I think that it's because the original size is too small. When small images I always triply the size and set minimum colour area. I post your image with these settings and you can see that the image is affected with lines. I hope it helps.

This is what I get with all defaults, Diego. Just did a screenshot (at full resolution) so that the error console would be included.

Lyle, the 2 warning messages are not the problem, I get them too: they inform that small areas are not stroked.
Your "real" problem seems to be you do not get correctly the layer with the dots, look at my screenshots (run the filter with "flatten=no"):
- first screenshot: my screen showing the 3rd layer in the list
- second screenshot: that layer copied and pasted as a new image

The "Plasma2" has been posted before by Issabella, both here and in a separate thread.
I post here my filter, just in case something is wrong in downloading it.

OK; I get the dots with flatten equals no. Not sure why yes gives the wrong result.

I'm glad for you.
I don't know either why "flatten" isn't working properly for you, but this is a minor problem.
Now -if you like- do other experiments with other images and using a minimum size of 2000 (the default minimum of 1000 is often not enough to get good results, as Issa said).
Where needed, just do a pre-processing using brightness/contrast to get a better intermediate indexed work image during the process.
