@ Griatch - it is a picture of the front gates of Lunar Park in Melbourne, Australia. - a mini Fun Park.
I just used the tunnel Frame effect on it.

Okay here's my attempt...If it looks like I got lazy it's because I did. I stopped "feeling it" but I wanted to present something so...this is what you get. Lol... :oops:

It's a Koph Village! You see the butterfly transports and the mushroom houses? I just prefer to leave to your imagination what they are transporting. ;)
I had a lot of ideas but none of them went to the finish...Drawing backgrounds isn't my strong suit so I hope it doesn't look as awful as it could. :lol I used a pencil sketch to start, then did some base coloring in MyPaint then finished in GIMP.

That's really nice Moko. I agree with Lyle's suggestion - to add some little people

@oldmangrumpy

That's a nice image - is that New York or something like that? The fire-y effect above it feels a bit omnious to me, but definitely magical. :)

@Moko

Making something you might not have done otherwise is the whole point of this exercise! I'm not familiar with "Koph" per se, but I see the transport-butterflies and there's a little mushroom house with a steady chimney all there! Very magical, just like the prompt was aiming for!

Once upon a time there was an arch mage who spent all his time refining the art of magical protection. He walked through fire and crossed a sea of lava without getting burnt. But the arch mage was not satisfied with these feats. He said, "Nothing can pierce my magic, and to prove it I shall find the hottest flame in the land and prove that it cannot hurt me."

And so the arch mage sought the the lair of the Great Grey dragon, whose breath weapon was said to shine like a blue sun. For three weeks and three days he traveled, to the top of the world where the ancient beast rested. The dragon was like a mountain, watching him approach in silence.

"Dragon!" called the mage, "Please hit me with your flame!"

"Why, O human?" asked the dragon, its voice shaking the mountain side. "There is little meat on your bones, and I have no quarrel with you."

"I will bet my life that my magic can resist your flame" boasted the mage, "and when it does, I shall be remembered for all time!"

But the dragon found this to be nothing but human arrogance and would not fulfill his wish. The mage got more and more frustrated until he finally said: "Hear this then, o great dragon: If you do not fulfill my desire, I swear that I shall go and train myself until I am as skilled in the art of attack as I am in defense. And when next I come back I will do so to destroy you!"

"Very well, foolish human" said the dragon and raised its head. "You shall get your wish. With this you has given me reason to destroy you." And at that, its flame burst forth and engulfed the mage. Never had he felt such power! He was surrounded by blue fire on all sides and had to use all his skills to surround himself with a bubble of safety. The dragon's blue flame kept coming, surrounding his magical sphere on all sides. But his defense held steady!

"Ha! I have bested you!" the arch mage cried in triumph. "I can feel it - not even your flame can reach me in my sphere of magic!"

"So it seems" the dragon answered calmly, not for a moment relenting in the inferno it was causing all around the mage. "Yet, there is not much air inside that magical sphere of yours, and all air outside it is now hotter than the sun.

You wished to bet your life. Do you now wish to bet as to which one of us has the bigger lungs?"

----------

My entry for this week. It has magic and a land in it! :)

Love the story, especially the last bit. :lol

Picture is brilliant as always - can I say one thing though?

I think you should put the story first. Wasn't till I read it that I saw everything in the image. ;)

Thanks, glad you like it. The image is the thing though so it and the text are in the right order IMO. Guess people just need to look a little closer. :)

It's a highly saturated piece of image; I can certainly see the idea of afterglow there!

This is a very nice painting dinasset! I like the colors (very fitting of the theme) and the slight glister of the photographed acrylic adds a bit of extra "pop"to it. The snake reminds me a little of snake guarding the box of Pandora in Moko's painting (RAP for "forbidden desire") - looks omnious in this light! Good contrasts and mood in this, great job.

Sun shining through the clouds - works well for the theme, and a pretty picture. :)

Here's my attempt for this week. I was inspired by the color scheme of dinasset above, although the style is very different:

Very pretty - it's always fun with some sunset pictures; one can sometimes see pictures one would not have been able to paint since noone would think the cloud formations were actually possible. :)

The raster effect is very fitting for this; makes his face stand out very well against the background. Nice job!

Most dramatic light in this one, I always find mirrored images to have a somewhat surreal and omnious quality, this is no exception! :)

Hehe, the glow is literally coming "after" the firefly! If fireflies were that powerful, imagine the light show at night! Biological flashlights too.
