I am extremely frustrated with my computer and the gimp program! My computer has been checked by the "Geek Squad" a couple times and can find nothing wrong. I agree. The only program that I have a problem with is GIMP. Have tried several versions of Gimp and G'MIC. None work well. Sometimes all the plug-ins that have been set in Edit/Preferences are gone and now must be reset to use only to disappear again when the Gimp program is exited. G''MIC currently not working with any combination. Installs fine, is seen in the Filters menu, but does not load in to use! Start up frequently malfunctions with a lot of windows popping up to be exited from and some opening a demo which is not complete. After all this time, I am exhausted with it, and feel like giving up.

Yes, I have tried Samj's 2.10.12, 2.10.14, and 2.10.18. None of them had a GMIC that came installed that worked. I removed them and did several trials with the installer and with the .zip. I even installed the regular version of 2.10.12 and 2.10.18 gimps from gimp.org. I do not know what to do now.

I have thought about reinstalling Windows. There is so much I need to copy off first so I will not lose the files and programs that are already installed. I don't know if one of them could be interfering with Gimp and G'MIC. I did make a copy of the hard drive when I first got the computer and that may be a help.
