Pat, I like the pastel gradients nice one!

Looking back, it may be that 'New' style was probably several
different things, whatever was different then before at the time.

If you may remember from earlier posts that some of my time has been
used learning Python. I have learned enough at this point to start learning
Gimp python.
So, the newest style 'repeatable' is the result of making fixed settings
in the Texturize by Color Area script into variables to play with.
Now I can repeat any outcome if I make notes on the settings.
There are still a few trouble spots which need fixing, and so there is
more for me to learn with priority on troubleshooting code,
but I prefer to learn without asking for help if it can be avoided.

I wish you lots of success in your endeavors. You certainly know how to manipulate the colors and textures of photos. I am sure you will do very well.

Pat, I am not going anywhere, but when my goal is achieved, I may start
playing with other gimp things also.

A way to lighten and bring out the texture...
on the quantized layer only.. desaturate by lightness, then use the brightness/contrast to
brighten and bring the 'grain' of the texture out with the contrast. If you leave the other layers 'eye' on
you can see the changes as you move the controls.

Thank you Dinasset! My eyes start to quiver if I look at them too long.

Abandoned gas station pumps with wood grain brought out via
color>desaturate lightness
color>auto>white balance
color>brightness/contrast on the texture layer only.

Animicule: your images are always so precise. Do you spend a lot of time on the post processing?

I don't think that I do any post processing.
My plays at this time...
open subject file, look at it, if too dark lighten with color>brightness contrast
think about what pattern to use or try something new
run the script with low nuances (usually 11) and look at the result
make changes to pattern, number of nuances and any other setting that
looks like it needs changing and run again (maybe several times).
then do layer play which may include (all on the texture layer only)
color>desaturate lightness,
color>auto>white balance
color>brightness/contrast
And if it looks good enough to me, then I am done.
If it is nice, I might try a different style or two just to see.
If not I try more layer play, or make some other setting changes
and start over, or decide that I don't know yet how to get a good
result from the subject and put the subject aside and try another.
Once done, I don't use any more filters.
(except recently with the LyleStyleDetails, have tried a few).

Unless it is one that begs to be made into a composite,
but the play there before running the filter..

Duh, me...
Yes, normally use Graphics Boost and Chroma Boost
without thinking about it.... have been trying to change
it up some lately.
