And using decreasing incremental scaling:

And with incremental changes in depth also applied with increased incremental scaling:

There are some very promising GEGL text effects appearing on GimpChat. Oh for Gimp 3 to see how it is implemented!

Yes! Would be good for those who are not coders

Error checking at the moment - hmmm - lots of squished bugs so far - but even more to swat!

A bit of horizontal text justification to be going on with...
Centred (justify to top edge also available) shown here. Again straight out of the box with a gradient background added after Faux3D.

And this centred text reduces in size but increases in 3D depth (background added after running the filter).

Ok, you got my attention with this update. I’m liking where you’re headed!

A progress report - the use of kerning has been problematic...

Below - out of the box with gradient background added separately.

Thank you Mahv and Sallyanne (pretty cool yourself that most recent one).

The last one I did, did not show the kerning path treatment so this example shows more clearly how the filter would behave...

3D plug-in progress...
Tabbed dialog added.
Scaling up and non-scaling working well.
Scaling down with kerning information causing a lot of grumpiness with Gimp.

Example below consists of three combined outputs - one on each line - with a black background added afterwards.
