I have been a member of Gimp Chat for just one month now and I am having such a fabulous time on the forum and learning Gimp at the same time. It is a rapid learning curve that I am following, but so enjoyable and made all the better by those who contribute their time in making tutorials, scripts and plug-ins.

In the last week or so I have done a number of tutorials and applied many new functions, creating patterns, gradients (yes for the Wanderers!), new effects et al - so I have put a few of them together as a way of saying how much I appreciate all those contributors and also those who offer positive and constructive assistance - thank you.

Well thank you for joining. I have never seen anyone yet catch on as fast as you have. Your work looks like you have been using gimp for years. Glad to have your aboard.

Though I haven't had time to do as many of the tutorials as I've wanted to, I second your thanks . I would love a list of the tutorials/that you make one for your thank you cube . There are some interesting techniques you've got going in there. It would be much more interesting than the tutorial I submitted.

@MarFisk - thankyou for your comments; I don't keep a list of tutorials that I have done, there are so many! But lets see what I can give you just from this 'thankyou cube' image. Firstly I have found there is so much functionality contained in Gimp its just a matter of finding/learning/using it!

Relevant to this particular image are the following:
Tutorial on 'Quick Metallic Pattern Backgrounds' -by He4rty; images visible on the cube
Tutorial/script '3D text using my paths scripts' - by Ofnuts; Script 'Extrude from path' by Graechan; the text in the image
Video tutorial 'Easy way to make a custom gradient in Gimp' - by Jolie (aka GimpTricks) & referred by Wallace; my custom gradient used in the background; there is also a script I think from Ofnuts to create a custom gradient from a path in an image
The rose on the cube is another custom 'pattern' creation but from whose tutorial I cannot remember - basically standard Gimp functionality where a copied area can be 'pasted as new pattern'
The cube is also basic Gimp 'Filters/map/map to object' which I came across through a Dinasset tutorial on making spherical maps to use in other scripts.

I come across these tutorials obviously via the Gimp Tutorials section but mainly just through reading forum posts. Hope this is of some use to you.

Well it is now 2 months since I joined; not only did I find the end of the rainbow, but yes it was sitting in a pot of gold! I just want to say thanks again to all contributors, developers, scripters and particularly those sterling members who have put up with me being 'ever present' around their threads. Hopefully, in these politically corrrect days, it does not amount to harassment, but you have lead and I have followed.

I have learned a lot but there is obviously much more to go, so again just to say thank you to Gimp Chat and all its members, I am awarding you all a plaque composed of elements I have learned or downloaded recently. Love those spherical maps!
