i've been away for quite some time now and i really wish i had more gimp work to show for it! i've had a demanding year at work and my laptop broke down, so for some time i was without a computer. now erisian is living here and we can share his and i have borrowed an antique one from my dad, so i've actually done a bit of gimping again, even if it's been very little.

mostly i've been doing collages/assemblages or whatever you'd call them. i tried ordinary fantasy and i tried making whimsical and surreal stuff, but i end up over working everything, so i gave up that strand of work (or at least let it rest for a while, til i know how to go about it without getting stuck in details) and focused on my rococo craze. i get these phases now and then when i nerd in on rococo ornaments and art and i am in one of those phases now.

Image
"a moment of magic" - some ordinary fantasy, i'm happy with the composition and lighting in this

Image
"long distance relationship" - and guess what inspired this? :hehe this is one of those attempts at whimsical and surreal and it went completely wrong because i couldn't help being too decorative. i like it anyway, mostly because of the feeling in it
Image
"thistledown" - this is rococo going fantasy :). i manipulated a rococo portrait quite a bit and put it an a landscape with a slightly eerie mood. it's loosely based on a character in a book.
Image
"slightly less than ladies" - more along the lines of slightly eerie rococo. i have a whole philosophy behind this one that i don't think anyone else is interested in, but you might be interested in hearing i changed facial expressions in the portraits a bit by subtle use of the iwarp filter. i'm definitely on my way to making friends with iwarp now!

Very nice work AnMal, they are very original and well thought out. It is so nice to see you back and hope we see lots more of you. Keep your coffee drinker guy in line will you? :teeth I gave up that stuff about 6 months ago and haven't missed it.

molly, lyle: thanks, both of you :)! it's great to be in here again. molly, i love your outfit with the hello kitty cap, very pink and fluffy. i try hard to keep my coffee drinker guy in line, but he's stubborner than any mule i've ever known! i even have a coffee maker in my house now for the first time. *shudders* oh, the things i put up with!

AnMal, these are beautiful images. I especially like the "Long Distance relationship" and the "Slightly Less than Ladies". The more you look at these , the more you see. Very Nice!

Nice ones. "Long distance relationship" is my favorite (even if the girl's neck is a bit stretched IMHO).

ofnuts: thank you :). i can agree about the girl's neck - the bust i used is from the end of the nineteenth century and the beauty ideal prescribed swan necks on women, but to me (and perhaps to any twentyfirst century viewer?) it looks exaggerated and weird.

Wonderful to see you in here again AnMal. The thumbnails all look good. I have only had a close look at your 'slightly less than ladies' and if they are all that intricate - wow!

Ooooooohhhh AnMallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!! :D :D :hi5

I like I like! I'm noticing you have a sudden affection for weasels? :lol
Maybe because you see a coffeemaker weasling it's way in to your house.....:hehe

I like the "long distance relationship" and "slightly less than ladies" the best! They have completed look to them and kinda...not Victorian...but..hmm.. a classic look to them...yeah that's it! xD :D
Nice nice! :D

wallace, odin: thanks, nice seeing you both again :)!

moko: :hi5 :hugme tank you, sis :) ! of course, the weasels are a symbol of that coffee maker weasling it's way in here - very well interpreted :hehe . i'm glad you like those two pics, i haven't thought of them as classical, but maybe they are :). definitely more classical than some of the other collages i made - one was a landscape of broccoli trees where a cabbage lady walked her aardvaark and i thought that one was a bit too... hmm... shall we say sensibility-challenged? for gimp chat...
