This is a study of the "Neo-victorian" fashion movement, from my rather strange comic project Where Red Apples Lie. The color scheme of this study is borrowed from there too.

I picture the Neo-victorian fashion movement of the Red Applies Lie-world as a play with the strict Victorian style of the 19th century England, but using modern techniques, fabrics and sensibilities.

Done in Krita using an inking brush.

From the description, it sounds like those of the more fashionable crowd are rather snobbish and are the "smart people" but in their eyes only.

I like the pose and the umbrella is well made! I think that the hand on her hip is a wee bit small...they say the hand should be the size of the face, it looks a bit smaller than the face...to me anyway, I am probably wrong. xD

griatch: i like the general style of this - it looks like she has been looking at old fashion plates and stolen the pose and facial expression as well as the look . like she thinks people actually walked around looking like that in the late nineteenth century.
i wondered about her face and hair - they didn't seem to match up exactly. after thinking about it, i am now convinced they match up, but that the reason i thought they didn't is the hairdo, which i don't really understand. but of course, why should i understand a neo-victorian hairdo from the red apple universe?

Good point about the hand, I have resized and changed it a bit now, hopefully better!
I'm picturing the neo-victorians in a similar way to goths or punk style. I don't think they necessarily need to be snobbish if clothes like this is easy to get your hands on.


I wanted to contrast the traditional-style clothing with a non-traditional hairdo to make it clearer that there is something "off" here. I might have overdone it a bit. The Red Apples Lie-world has some curiosities about it, it seems.
