been following polygon art closely for some time now,
finally decided to take a shot at it.

This is my first ever try, and i can see now what I could have done better.
Despite seemingly simple concept, it's not that easy to make. Gotta push polygons harder :mrgreen:

Forgot to say, no filters were used to create it.

whats the concepct behind it ?

and what program did you use to make your polygon-art, K1te ?

did you just draw polygons and fill them with color ?

You're right Esper, i draw vector polygons over ref. images, then almost the same workflow
as I used to create this cherry with gradient mesh.
Illustrator. Could be done in Inkscape but i'm more comfy with AI now, and it's quicker to do.
Some basic color correction in GIMP and voila...
Polygon art is quite a boom among Blender artists lately, and will surely give it a try with Blender too.

Nice work, it does look like the mesh created by blender, but you done it all by hand wow.

I wanted to try and achieve the same effect using only Gimp and it's filters.
My results.

Not as close to a polygon face as your results but i am getting there.

That's pretty cool, Rod! I can see the the ghost of the reference image, can you get rid of it?
Of course you can do it with GIMP, but did you try Inkscape? I know you do vector stuff.
In my next post I will give a link to web-browser app that makes it easier to make polygons over ref images.

If i remove the reference image it looks like crap. :lol

I will try a vexel in Inkscape.

This is very lightweight web browser based application. Works only with browsers that support file API. I used Chrome.
Go to this page http://somestuff.ru/I You can ignore everything and go to the demo video on the right bottom.
Under the vid there is a download link.
Download source files (Win and Mac only) and unzip in any folder on you hard or flash drive.
Click on HTML icon and the app will open up in your browser. Drop an image from your computer to the image window and
start clicking. Every click creates vertex, 3 vertices make triangle (polygon) and so on.
Save as svg, import to vector program (Inkscape, Corel Draw, AI) and edit if necessary.
It takes some getting used to it but after few tries you'll get good results.

Found out about this program just 2 days ago. My last 2 images were done with Triangulator. Still I think
my first image which was done manually is much better but some practicing can save you tons of time.
