I'm trying to deepen my steampunk painting skills, here's a work in progress of a flintlock pistol.

I've completed the initial block-in of colour and am beginning the texturing. Any critiques would be gratefully received - thanks.

Finished this off just now with some highlights and texturing.

Iif I may comment: the barrel needs some different shining to look as cylyndrical

@Dinasset: Of course you may comment and thank you, I am always grateful to receive feedback . Yes I think maybe the top edge could do with being a bit lighter?

I think it could use a bit of lightening on the top of the barrel but keep that octagonal look if you can. Very nice artwork i think.

Thanks Rod, although from the reference image I used, the barrel is supposed to be cylindrical so I've obviously gone wrong somewhere if you think it's octagonal! I need to pay more attention to painting metallic cylinders I think!
