This plugin? has been a part of Gimp for at least the last three versions, or since I first downloaded Gimp

Some of my most popular downloads over at Desktop Nexus. So far, I havent seen anyone but myself use this for wallpapers.
They are so popular that people steal them from my site and post them on there wallpaper sites

The most popular one so far is the bronco one

That's really very nice. Love it - would love to do something like that for my daughter's school. Will have to give it a try.

This plugin is part of Gimpressionist.. 2 filters with in gimpressionist do the spheres. They are FP's bubbles, and Ballpark. You can find it here:

Filters>Artistic>Gimpressionist

Oh dear; just got home after some birthday celebrations (not mine ... do not have them any more) and thouight I would have a quick play when I saw this thread at the top of the board.

I have not even looked at GIMPressionist previously, but now I feel another addiction/binge coming on ...

Thank you Norseman143 for the heads up on this effect. Played with it a bit - result is no where near what you've perfected but, I'll continue to play with it.

The way I have found that works best, is to have 2 layers, Run the Balls filter, adjust the curves, because it seems to come out dark, so you want to brighten it up
Then with the second image on to fuzzy select the surrounding color and delete, so you just have the image
in your case the Indian. Then turn the occupacy way down to as low as you can, maybe 20. merge together
done
