Storm in a teacup

I just discovered that we Brits use the expression 'A storm in a teacup' whilst our American cousins use 'a tempest in a teapot'.
I've combined the two with 'a tempest in a teacup' which seems like the best of both worlds to me.

That's an interesting image.

Being an American,
I'm more of a coffee drinker.

However,
I'm a French Press user.
Which is much different,
from what's "normally" considered "good coffee" here in the states.

Some Americans can't appreciate a good cup of coffee,
let alone know what one is.

As for tea;
I would say the same.
I for one,
don't have a clue what a good cup of tea is.

Skinnyhouse,

Your graphic illustration of "Storm in a teacup" prodded my memory banks
to recall a similar quotation used in America "A storm in a cream bowl".

This quote is used in the context to describe a small event that is
exaggerated out of proportion.

I remember the 'storm in a teacup' well (Comments used by my Grandmothers and mother)

In the Netherlands we use the phrase "Storm in een glas water".

Wallace: Think we are in dangerous waters in the tea versus coffee department discussion. Each to their own when it comes to caffeine intake. Personally I like both my coffee and tea very weak indeed so I am bound to annoy just about every other imbiber. I blame my mother.
