Just sharing; get a better weave with sine+ than triangle imo. :)

Excellent outcomes, both the first one and the last one.

Really does look like a good weave. Really like the clarity of the features in the image.

Aaagh! The return of (pretty) Chucky!!!!

Really good effect though Lyle. Organic - seems woollen-like to me.

Lyle, can you clarify for me exactly where you place the convolution layer in the stack? I understand your instructions as to how to make it, but unsure of just how to use it.

After rendering, you place the convolution layer on top set to Grain Merge. You create the convolution layer by using the original image, dup, run bilateral smoothing on top layer and set that layer to Grain Extract and merge down (gives a detailed grayish result). Best to desaturate it afterwards. I just copy the render on top setting result to color most of the time. I duplicate the convolution layer (each layer grain merged of course) until happy reducing the opacity on the last convolution layer to taste. I'll add that I like to run segmentation followed by anisotrophic smoothing on the convolution layer prior to using it to get rid of edge artifacts. :)

Lyle, I believe I did the convolution layer correctly following your previous instructions and did place it on the top of the stack, but I didn't know about desaturating or segmentation. Will do that next time. With this last attempt, I used sine+ for the ripple. I think it made this image too tight, do you? Played with some color.

Rez is too low, but from what I can tell, it looks great, Pat. Like the colorize work too. :)

Thank you, Lyle. I love doing this effect. I really do not know how you and Samj figure out how to do these things but I am very glad you do!

Thank you, Tin. You know that Lyle never does simple images. He pulls you into this types of image manipulation that are extremely difficult for me and makes my brain hurt. But, for me, as a senior citizen, I am supposed to make my brain hurt to ward off senility!
