After more than 10 years, these 2 images will represent my 'swan song' with Gimp Chat. Whilst the mind is still vibrant and willing, this old body is broken and can no longer deliver.

The first image is a cartoon portrait of a basket ball player and the second, perhaps my legacy to this forum, a see through glass Roman soldier.

My heartfelt thanks go out to special GC friends, Wallace, Issabella, Ella, Pat, Sallyanne and Diego for their support and encouragement over the years for my artistic journey. Also thanks to Ofnuts for his many path related plugins, which facilitated my efforts.

Good luck for the future to the GC forum and all its participants.

What an adventurous and educational journey, together with you and all the other members of Gimp Chat, OMG.
We joined in the same year.
Your typical style of both your cartoon portraits and your beautiful glass work will always stay with me.
As well as your reproductions of my Blender art.
A tribute in thanks with my latest Blender work.
Thank you for everything :ffy

(I sent you a more personal email)

Sorry your leaving because you made a big contribution here over many years. I know you like plants and gardens so here are some gardening shots.

'Blue pacific' tree flowering. Unfortunately this tree didn't survive last summer due to lack of rain and failing to notice it was on the way out.

Dear OMG,

I'm saddened to hear this song,
but also find a measure of comfort in reflecting on it.
Thank you, OMG, for all your contributions;
not only as a moderator, but as a valued member of the community.
Your impact has been deeply felt, and your legacy will not be forgotten.
You will be truly missed.

Cheers and Best Wishes

Wallace of Gimp Chat

My dear friend,
You have been an inspiration and a great teacher for me and so many others here on the forum. I sincerely wish you the best during this time of rest. I have no words to express my gratitude for everything.
All goodbyes are sad, but it's never forever, my friend; it's a see you soon.
With all my love, a big hug. :ffy :smooch

Just after I first posted this 'Swan Song' thread, somebody very close to me, somebody who can be very persuasive, advised me that the post was incomplete, as it did not contain an example of my portrait images.

At that time I was half way through my work on the below image. Since then I have been continually harangued and inveigled into completing/posting it by this well meaning person. So it has taken a while, but now here it is, to complete the final chapter – thank you again Gimp Chat and all my friends here; oh yes and thank you also to my wife for her tenacity and support!

A very good decision. Your portraits are all extraordinary, full of subtle details that give each one a sense of conveying their different personalities. That's very difficult to do unless you're a great artist like yourself.
Thanks, friend. We're so glad you're on the forum.
Take care, :clap
(no final chapter, OMG) :thanku :ffy

Well done that friend - oh and you too OMG.
More is still better than less in most respects - but even one post a year is still enough to raise our spirits and encourage someone to be a YMG or a SOMG (Young Man Grumpy/Son (of) Old Man Grumpy).
Stay well!
:tyspin
