its way too hard to imitate PS tutorials, dont think i will continue this
i think the Gimp people will have to come up with their own thing, instead of running after PS

Had a little time this morning and thought i'd try the PS tute but gimp kept crashing when i got to the outer glow part

esper: since the two programs do things in different ways wouldn't be easier to start from scratch in gimp trying to get a certain effect than starting from the ps tutorial? i think the bullet proof looks good, though.

but i see very little Gimp tutorials like you have in PS and thats why there is a tendency to fall back to these

esper: yeah, we need more people who just play around in gimp and experiment with settings and filters. i think most nice looking effects come about because people just play and then they get something nice looking and see what they can use it for - then they sit down and write a tute about it.

thats kind of true, do you think, people would like to have a tutorial made from the text effect i posted ?

esper: i think gimp chat works like any other graphics forums - most results of a tutorial are never posted because they were made by lurkers on the site or people who were searching for something and just stumbled on the tutorial. i followed a lot of the tutorials on gc before i joined. i'm sure you'd do a good deed if you posted a tutorial on the bullet proof, it's a nice effect.

you are probably right, when i post something new, i get loads of hits, but a lot less reactions, whioch makes you think who are all the people who looked at my post

its my free day today, the pain in my nape is better, so maybe i will write a tutorial later....we'll see
