One day I was watching a tutorial on creating your own GIMP brushed and I realized I haven't really used many of the GIMP brushes there already are. So I decided to throw paint around without using the feather brush or hard edge brush at all. And this happened

amprosoft: that's just lovely! it's like something from a dark underwater fairy tale. what brushes did you use exactly? not the bell peppers, i suspect :hehe

. i agree with merrak about the hair and i like the eyes too.

Excellent work AMProSoft. I love the green colour and the way you do hair. I use Gimp Paint Studio (a set of brushes and presets for the Gimp artist) and it's always fun to experiment with the various textures and shapes.

Nicely done. You got some great results with random brushes.Were they all default Gimp brushes?

They were all default brushes for 2.8.4. In the beginning I sort of went in order and tried the cell brushes then the bristle brushes for hair and just tried all sorts of random things at the end of the brush palette. By the time I got to the Vegetation brush I was in the mood to start going over the structure I had laid down. I think I painted with the star brush in the very beginning. I really just needed to get a feel for what's available and what it could do.

This is a painting I did a few days later going back to the brushes I use most of the time (Hardness 50%, 75% & 100%)

amprosoft: sounds like a fun experiment with all those default brushes - i haven't tried half of them on anything, so i think maybe i should follow your example
