this is a fake painting in several steps. surprisingly enough it started with erisian's fractal here: http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7130. it reminded me of an ornamental clasp and i tried to make something to put it on, but couldn't, so i stole some medieval costume pics and all of a sudden i had a highly tweaked and fake painted princess and she needed to be somewhere, so i put her in a fake painted fairy tale forest.

Really nice, definately has the whole story book vibe going on.
