a collage based off one of erisian's fractals from this thread: http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7130&hilit=fractals&start=10 - i wanted mermaids in it, but didn't think i was up to making them myself. i was wrong, it seems :). had to change the colouring a bit and i wish the fractal had a better resolution, but i still think it turned out okay.

edit: when i first posted this i made a mistake and posted an earlier version. the differences are not exactly enormous, but i still thought i should post the version i was most happy with.

i love underwater scenes :heart

the mood is captured very nicely !
i didnt see the fish at first, but the turtle and the ray

the thing that kind of irritates me, is the golden part of the fractal
i think the blue shades really help to make the underwatermood work

and the golden parts somwehow represent the light coming from above
but i would like it more if it was more subtle
i do understand that its probably difficult to do....

overall very nice composition and lovely vibes ! :luvstruck

btw. here is a very nice old classic track by J.Majik, called Mermaids
with bubbly moody underwater vibes, that you may like

esper: thank you! i had a lot of problem with the colour of the fractal - the problem is that the resolution of the thing is a bit low, so any changes i make in colour make the fractal very pixelised. i agree that it should be a bit bluer or at least in cooler green and yellow tones for this kind of picture. i'll have to ask erisian if he has a larger picture of the fractal, then i could colour edit it easy enough.
the music isn't really my thing, but it sounds very submarine, so it goes well with the picture.

he4rty: thank you brother :)!

AnMal - It's a zoom in of a Mandelbrot so it should be easy to do again. What resolution would you like? Beautiful work - I love it!

Esper - have you seen all the different coloured plants that grow at the bottom of the ocean?

esper: hehe, did you think the only thing that could convince erisian to start drinking tea was if he was threatened by a scary viking woman?

My blood pressure was getting close to high so I thought I would reduce my chemical stimulation by reducing my coffee. Thankfully my blood pressure is now perfect. :)

mokonafan: thank you! i'm just waiting for that higher resolution fractal i've been promised, then i hope to make it even more interesting :).
and about how erisian started drinking tea - i suppose he poured water in a cup and put a tea bag or a full tea infuser in it and left it in for a while, then my guess is he lifted the cup to his mouth and sort of tilted it over a little til the tea started flowing into his mouth and then - but this is of course pure speculation on my part - i think he swallowed. i don't claim to have any expert knowledge, but i do think this seems like a logical way to start drinking tea...
lylejk: thank you :)! yes, mermaids are easy to like, i made a series of mermaid collages once and that was my most commented work ever.
gnu tux: thank you! i don't know about realistic, though, i think the mermaid's tail looks a bit stiff and unnatural.
gms9810: you're gonna have to bait well! my mermaids are used to finest quality drowning princes, if you come up with anything inferior they'll just sneer at it.
