Once upon the time, in the mind of a genial italian artist ( that i am too modest to name  ) was the archetypal blue Rhinoceros , a gigantic sculpture strategically placed in front of the main entry of the Museum of Biped's Art in Lysergica that we may consider the original

The beauty of concept reverberate across all Galaxies networks and was even channeled everywhere across time and space

And reverberate also in the mind of a brilliant ,( even if a bit snobbish) Catalan painter and visual artist that realized another remarkable 3D version.
(Alas here the placement of the sculpture is less optimal , the background a bit disturbing , but the sculpture itself may be considered a masterpiece )

" Rinoceronte vestido con puntillas " Salvador Dali , Puerto José Banús, Marbella, Spain

Simultaneously , ...well sort of simultaneously because we are talking of 2 different space time continuum ,anyway in Lysergica, were so many request from collectors of alternate versions of the original archetypal rhino , better if with size , weight and price less impressive

As engraved golden plates

or 2 metals plates

or even cheaper still stylish

but even that were too pricey for Al , a young German mathematician ended up in lysergica almost by mistake, when was visiting Italy:
he was in Rome , and visiting the innards of the old city ,he come too close to the place reserved to the Marquis of Pietraforte to build the Porta Alchemica ,( also know as Magic Portal or Alchemy Gate , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porta_Alchemica )

and accidentally he slipped trough , ending here in Lysergica.

Alas we could not host similar guest too long to avoid time paradox that may lacerate the tissue of our space continuum, and was a pity because Al even if penniless was a really nice guy and here his talent start to blossom and expand in all directions, as mathematician and beyond :
as craftsman , his woodcuts and engraving were excellent, perfect for our limited edition old style typographic work , reprinted used the original technology and materials
And more in general he discover himself as visual artist , and soon start to excel also in painting and sketching

...it was really a pity he could not remain longer

It was a sad day for all when he had to return to his period, but he liked much the gift, a special portfolio of Rhinoceros that he could not buy the first day in Lysergica ,

and appreciated his initial engraved on each plate, he liked so much to start to use that logo as tag to sign his artworks

Once back Al decided to continue his study in math, but to dedicate even more passion to the Visual Art, all visual arts, pencil and ink sketches, oil and watercolor paintings, and obviously typographic art, engraving and woodcut, and become quite famous with his full name , Albrecht Dürer

And when the memory of his days in Lysergica resurfaces he start to sketch Rhinoceros ...

Albrecht Dürer , Rhinoceros

**********************************************************************************************

Years later Al went back to Italy and once in Rome he could not resist the temptation to visit and use again the Alchemy Gate.

It was a beautiful surprise but, alas, once again we could arrange only a short permanence

We was so happy for his visit and we really appreciated his farewell gift , the whole Saint Antoine series :

a golden plate he printed from one of his woodcut , completed with the preliminary draft and pre-prints

The plate

Image

The first experimental pre-print, ( after this test the matrix was sharpened and polished )

Image

a two color preliminary sketch

Image

a previous bn draft, ink on paper , experimentally flipped

Image

and for a confront , below the copy of a even previous draft preserved on Al native planet , that is not too bad even confronted with Al successive experiments

Below Saint Anthony looks more curve and hunchbacked, the buildings seem somehow smaller , but for the rest is not too bad for a copy of the first draft ...

PS

To have the permission to share this report i had to promise to the Doctor to be able to trick you , to make you believe this a narrative fiction

Sorry if i had to hypnotize you to convince that this is only a fantasy , but is required to preserve the very tissue of our space time continuum , and to avoid problems with the Doctor

So please make a effort to believe that all what i wrote till now is fiction , to convince yourself that this was pure fantasy :

there are no other dimensions,
aliens are not real ,and all conspiracies theories are derived from paranoia ,
there are no hidden puppet-master we live in a Democracy in a Age of Progress
this was a fiction
and every 25 December Santa Claus comes from the North Pole to bring presents to all the good children
